Billing policy

It is a requirement under Medicare Australia guidelines to provide informed financial consent to all patients. This information is provided so you can make informed decisions about the care you require and the associated expenses.

Below is a list of the type of consultation and the related expenses charged by our Endocrinologists, Dr Yee Kim Ku, Dr Pui Yee Wu and Dr Chee Shang Tang in year 2025. Please be aware that the fee will be adjusted yearly to keep up with inflation.

Kindly note that we have three individual female endocrinologists available at our clinic. When you first contact us for an appointment, you may be offered the earliest available slot with any of them. Please be aware that follow-up appointments must be made with the same doctor.

Alternatively, you may choose to stay with the endocrinologist specifically referred by your GP, if preferred. However, please note that the waiting time may vary depending on the doctor's availability.

If you decide to change to a different endocrinologist at any point, a new referral will be required, and you will be considered a new patient for the newly selected doctor.

The quoted fee may vary if you have not followed up with the doctor as advised. If you have not seen the doctor for more than nine months, you will be considered a new patient, as your medical condition will require reassessment. In this case, a new referral will be necessary, and you will be charged for an initial consultation.

Similarly, if you are a review patient but present with a new medical condition, you will also be classified as a new patient, as the doctor will need to evaluate the new issue. A new referral will be required, and you will be billed for an initial consultation.

However, if the doctor has recommended an annual review with a new GP referral, you will be charged the standard annual review fee. For example:

• Standard review: Fee is $210, Medicare rebate is $76 — gap fee is $134

• Annual review: Fee is $285.90, Medicare rebate is $151.90 — gap fee remains $134

A short Telehealth consultation will be arranged for doctor to redo your lost script or pathology/ radiology referral forms, which will incur a fee of $68.35 with Medicare rebate of $43.35

Payment of the consultation fee is required at the time of your appointment. For standard telehealth consultations, card pre-authorisation is now required prior to your session. A secure paylink from Tyro will be sent to you separately, and the doctor will be unable to proceed with your appointment until the pre-authorisation is completed. You will only be billed for any outstanding amount or the consultation fee after the appointment.

Please note that your information may be used for billing purposes, including the management of outstanding accounts. If you do not consent to this, we regret that we will be unable to proceed with your care, as this is a necessary part of our practice policy.

Please note you will need a referral for specialist consultation in order to claim medicare rebate. A referral from a general practitioner (GP) to a specialist lasts 12 months, unless noted otherwise. Referrals from specialists and consultant physicians are valid for 3 months. It is patient’s responsibility to make sure the referral is up to date.

If your referring practitioner no longer practices at the same address or if their provider number is no longer valid, you will be required to obtain a new referral—even if your current referral is less than 12 months old. Similarly, if you have changed to a new GP at a different practice and would like us to send correspondence to the new clinic, a new referral will also be required.

We can assist you in claiming your Medicare rebate after paying your consultation fee. The rebate from Medicare will go straight back into your bank account. You must register your bank account details with Medicare before your consultation, online or phone Medicare on 132 011.

Alternatively, we can assist you with Medicare claims via our Tyro terminal at the clinic. To use this service, please present a debit card on the day of your visit. The rebate will be credited instantly to your bank account.

*** Patients with no Medicare will need to pay the full fee and do their own claim from their private health fund.

Please be advised that if you failed to cancel or reschedule your appointment within 24 hours prior, a penalty fee of $50 will be applied before we will rebook you for another appointment. For new patients, we will require you to pay upfront fee and a penalty before we offer you another appointment if you failed to show up without prior notice. No future appointment will be offered to patient who fails to show for two times.
