Dr linus Chang - GASTOENTEROLOGIST

Dr Chang completed bachelor degrees in law and commerce prior to studying medicine at the University of Queensland. He undertook basic physician and gastroenterology training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane before further specialty training in Townsville. He has also practised throughout the United Kingdom and Singapore and completed basic physician training in the UK.

Dr Chang then underwent gastroenterology subspecialty training in endoscopic ultrasound and its role in the diagnosis and staging of upper gastrointestinal cancer at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, with further periods of observation and hands-on training in the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, USA and St Luc Hospital in Montreal, Canada.

Along with upper digestive tract malignancies, Dr Chang has special interests in diseases of the pancreas and biliary tree, Hepatitis B, high quality colonoscopy in the prevention of colorectal cancer and upper endoscopy in screening for gastric intestinal metaplasia and prevention of gastric cancer.

Dr Chang is a partner of the Mater Hill Gastroenterology practice.  He consults at Suite 21, Sunnybank Private Specialist Centre and endoscopes at the Sunnybank Private Hospital. He also sees and endoscopes patients at Mater Private Hospital in South Brisbane, Mater Private Hospital Springfield and Westside Private Hospital.  For patients who are seeking endoscopy who have limited or no significant medical history a direct access pathway to endoscopy is available without a prior consultation. DR emi khoo - GASTROENTEROLOGIST

Dr. Emi Khoo studied Biomedical Science at the University of Melbourne and Medicine at the University of Queensland. She completed basic physician training at the Gold Coast, Logan and Redland Hospitals, followed by gastroenterology training at Gold Coast, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the Mater Hospital Brisbane. In 2021 she subspecialised in Inflammatory Bowel disease at Mater Hospital Brisbane and is currently pursuing a PhD in IBD research. She holds a public appointment at Mater Hospital Brisbane and Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital.

Dr. Khoo is a lecturer at the University of Queensland and Griffith University, a strong advocate for education and research, and an active investigator on numerous pharmaceutical and investigator-initiated studies. She received the inaugural GESA Celltrion Healthcare IBD Fellowship and Pfizer Global Medical Grant to support her research project, which is an Australia wide randomized withdrawal-controlled trial investigating inflammatory bowel disease through the University of Queensland. Dr Khoo is committed to on-going professional development and is a member of several professional organizations, including Gastroenterology Society of Australia (GESA), American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO), The International Bowel Ultrasound Group (IBUS), and The Gastroenterology Network of Intestinal Ultrasound (GENIUS).

Dr Emi Khoo consults at Suite 21 Sunnybank Specialist Centre and performs upper endoscopy and colonoscopy at the Sunnybank Private Hospital and Greenslopes Hospital. She also performs capsule endoscopy and intestinal ultrasound in public hospitals. Dr. Khoo is fluent in Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese, and English and is dedicated to providing holistic care to your patients and the Sunnybank community.

Dr Emi Khoo offers a direct access pathway for patients to undergo endoscopy or colonoscopy without prior consultation, provided they do not have complex comorbidities. Please refer in the usual way but indicate on the referral a preference for direct access.


Dr Richard Lee - GASTROENTEROLOGIST

Richard is a Queensland trained gastroenterologist with a broad interest in all aspects of general gastroenterology and hepatology. In particular, he has a keen interest in the provision of high-quality endoscopy and colonoscopy to effectively diagnose and treat a variety of gastrointestinal conditions.

Richard obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Queensland in 2008. He was engaged as a corporate medical advisor in occupational health before completing his Master in Occupational Health and Safety (MOHS) with Distinction in 2015. He subsequently returned to the public sector and commenced gastroenterology training in 2017. He owes his current knowledge and skillset to the excellent training received at Cairns Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, and the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital. Richard became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2020. In addition, he undertook comprehensive training in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy during his final advanced training year at the QEII Hospital, with a strong focus on screening and prevention of cancers involving the upper and lower gastrointestinal tracts. He also obtained his accreditation in small bowel capsule endoscopy there. He is also actively involved with teaching medical students and gastroenterology advanced trainees, and is an Associate Lecturer at the University of Queensland. Away from work, Richard enjoys building Lego sets, travelling and spending time with his family.

Richard currently works at the QEII Hospital as Staff Specialist, providing quality, patient-focused gastrointestinal consultation and endoscopic services to patients from a wide range of ethnicities and backgrounds. He will be consulting at Suite 21 Sunnybank Specialist Centre and perform endoscopy and colonoscopy at the Sunnybank Private Hospital. Aside from English, Richard is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay/Indonesian.
